In January we took a team over from Stealth BJJ to compete in the European Brazilian Jiu Jitsu championships in Lisbon.  It was the biggest Brazilian Jiu Jitsu championships to ever take place, with around 3,400 competitors.

There were lots of tough fights, but our team did great!  Dave Minto, took silver in his Brown belt category, after getting 2 submissions in his first 2 fights and losing out on a close final.  Richard Thompson, won 3 fights, with 3 subs and got a well deserved silver medal.  Ken also won 2 fights and took bronze in his purple belt division!

Everyone else fought really well, Chau winning 2 matches and Nick and Emil winning their first matches too.  It’s great to see that we are competitive against some of the toughest opponents around!

It takes a lot just to get on the mats and compete.  Everyone gets nervous before fighting, but win or lose, it’s a great learning experience and something you will always remember!
