Black Belt

Introducing one of our Black belts Richard “Thomo” Thompson. Thomo got his black belt in November 2021 and has trained with head coach Steve Campbell for over a decade, having started his journey in MMA back in 2010. Thomo has trained and competed all over the world including Las Vegas, Portugal, Spain, Tenerife and, of course, multiple locations in the UK. Thomo also coaches in some MMA gyms in the Greater Manchester area and often coaches at other Stealth BJJ academies.

He has competed in gi and no gi for most of the time he has trained and won medals at the European Championships, won the national Masters at Brown belt and he has also recently won the British Open at Black belt. Thomo is known for his strength and conditioning and the pressure he applies in top positions but he also specialises in butterfly and half butterfly guard from bottom.

He is also very active on the competition scene as a referee including acting as head referee on many different completions and shows.

He teaches one-to-one sessions out of Stealth BJJ and from his private facility in south Bolton and he is also available for mental performance training, having a background and degree in psychology. He can be contacted on 07739362951
